For years Mike Guinn a member of the Fort Worth Slam Team has built a national reputation for coordinating and hosting quality spoken word/poetry events, workshops and presentations that have helped hundreds of other poets grow into their potential as aspiring spoken word artists. And by doing so is uniting the poetry and spokenword community.
Established in 2001 by Mike Guinn, Janean Livingston, Stacy Williamson-Bledsoe and Anthony Douglas, the Fort Worth Slam Team is an now an accredited member of POETRY SLAM INC. Its purpose is to fuse poetry and spoken word together to create a hybrid style of performance art that expresses the heart as well as the art of the presenter. Having competed in 6 national slam championships, 2 International Championships and countless other competitions. The Fort Worth Slam Team has produced 4 semi-final teams. 3 individual finalist, One Team Finalist(3rd), 4 team semi-finalists and the Only Individual Slam Champion in Texas History. Ms. Janean Livingston. Fort Worth Slams is one of the most successful spoken word organizations in the country.
The Fort Worth Poetry Slam Team continues to build a long standing local, regional and national track record for producing and promoting some the country's finest spoken word poets and events and featuring some of the world's top national artists.
Very few Non-Profit Literary Arts organizations have donated more time to youth, featured more national/HBO DEF POETS, or facilitated more at risk youth poetry workshops, slams, readings than the Fort Worth National Slam Team.
Their tireless dedication to the art of creative self-expression has paved the wave for other North Texas Venues locally and beyond.

Besides being an humanitarian, a nationally known poet and social worker. WORKSHOP FACILITATOR The Fort Worth Poetry Slams throughout the country has provided Quality Performance Workshops that typically run in 6 to 8-week modules. We provide a place for artistic and critical growth in after-school workshops which focus on different aspects of writing, from fiction, playwriting, and poetry, to performance and poetry slams. Facilitated by some of the country's leading performance poets, creative writers, national spoken word artists, and activists, Each workshop is designed for ages 10-100 years old.
